Maternal Newborn Nurse Expert, Breastfeeding Counselor, Case Manager and Health Advocate, Cynthia Sparks, is on a mission to provide first time moms with a nurse partner early in pregnancy and up to 24 months of infant life.
Cynthia’s aim is to provide nurse-driven community based and in-home support to families in combination with other multidisciplinary team members (i.e.; OB/GYN, Midwives, Doula’s, Child Birth Educators, Lactation Specialists and Social Workers), specifically in Baltimore County, MD. In support this effort, “Nurse Cynthia,” as she is affectionately known, founded Mainline Maternity Care, LLC, at the request of patients, clients and families under her care.
Cynthia graduated from the Inaugural Nursing Class of Harcum College, located in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania in 2005 and from graduation until this day, Cynthia continues to add value to each client contact through additional education obtained through certifications received throughout her career. While working in Pennsylvania, Cynthia also received facility-based training on providing Childbirth Education through (ICEA), Mindfulness Options (Massage/Reike/Aromatherapy) and Bereavement Support through RTS (Resolve Through Sharing).
This combination of specialized services and lived experiences has allowed Cynthia to provide a unique level of services to clients during the height of COVID while traveling throughout the USA, at the bedside, in communities and in the homes of those in need. Upon relocating back to Maryland, Cynthia quickly realized the level of nursing care she provided, morphed from traditional evidence-based medicine into an approach that was inclusive of holistic practices and focused on mind, body and spiritual support during pregnancy, post-delivery and early childhood development stages. A practice that can impact negative outcomes related to disparities and preventable Maternal-Infant Morbidity and Mortality rates in Maryland.
Under the direction of Nurse Cynthia, Mainline Maternity Care began working with The Judy Center’s Featherbed Lane School, facilitated by Ayn Ford in June of 2024, offering nurse-led evidenced based education sessions supporting Maternal-Mental Health and, in November of 2024 we obtained the support of The National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and Child First (NSO), to bring a new NFP implementation project to Baltimore County, MD.
Cynthia has proven to be an important influence for families navigating difficult pregnancies, transitioning from hospital to home with High Risk & NICU graduates as well as helping those experiencing Maternal Mental Health challenges with evidenced based education through Self-Love and Parent Empowerment Practices. Through the implementation of Mainline Maternity Care, Cynthia will utilize this platform to reach more families while displaying a positive and successful image to raise awareness on important Maternal Health Issues.
In an attempt to uplift communities across Baltimore County Maryland, Cynthia founded “The Mainline Maternity Community Collective”, in January 2025, a network of like-minded health professionals, parents and providers interested in influencing change and creating a culture of Champions as Women Business Owners supporting one another in business as we collectively support women in pregnancy from birth and beyond, one pregnancy at a time.
Cynthia, continues to reside in Baltimore County Maryland and is the proud mother of 2 adult children (Keona & Calvin) grandmother to grandson (Nyair), doggy mom for American Staffordshire Terrier Twins (Blu & Ivy), and grand-puppy-parent to (Mona Lisa).
