Biography

Dr Anya Arthurs is a Research Fellow at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute, where her work focuses on understanding how placental health influences pregnancy outcomes, including stillbirth. After completing her PhD at the University of Newcastle, she joined Flinders University to study the molecular signals that support healthy placental development and how disruptions to these processes can place pregnancies at risk.

Dr Arthurs’ research aims to translate her findings in molecular biology into practical tools that enable earlier detection of placental problems and better-informed clinical care. She is committed to research with real-world impact and works closely with clinicians, consumers, and advocacy groups to help improve outcomes for babies and families.
