Dr. Erica McKinney, affectionally knows as Doctor E., is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Wisconsin. She utilizes a patient-centered, culturally informed approach to promote psychological and physical wellness-with a deep commitment to honoring and integrating culturally based coping practices that support patients in managing physical pain and emotional distress. With over a decade of clinical and research experience, Dr. McKinney provides evidenced-based psychological care to individuals who give birth, those navigating the emotional impact of infertility, and those coping with substance use during pregnancy, Her work also focuses on supporting members of the BIPOC community and individuals at increased risk of adverse health outcomes due to the intersection of multiple marginalized identities.
Dr. McKinney is also passionate about advancing research and educating medical professionals—including medical students, resident physicians, fellows, attending physicians, and allied health and mental health professionals—on identifying and addressing the psychological and social factors that influence the health and well-being of patients seeking OBGYN care. She believes that improving health outcomes in OBGYN settings require a collaborative, team-based approach that values contributions of all disciplines involved in patient care.
