Rayna D. Markin, PhD, received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a licensed psychologist in Maryland and Pennsylvania and PSYPACT certified, offering teletherapy services to clients in PSYPACT participating states. She is the founder of The Therapy Center for Pregnancy Loss, LLC.

Dr. Markin has extensive clinical experience providing individual and couples therapy to clients affected by reproductive trauma, particularly pregnancy loss and infertility grief. She works with adults throughout the reproductive journey, including miscarriage, stillbirth, recurrent pregnancy loss, infertility, IVF-related loss, pregnancy after loss, and the transition to parenthood following reproductive trauma.

Based on clinical experience and research, Dr. Markin has developed an attachment-based, experiential, and trauma-informed approach to treating the psychological effects of pregnancy loss, as demonstrated in the American Psychological Association (APA) Therapy Demonstration Video titled Pregnancy Loss.

She is the author of the book Psychotherapy for Pregnancy Loss: Applying Relationship Science to Clinical Practice, which describes how a supportive and empathic therapist-client relationship can help clients affected by pregnancy loss and fertility struggles process and grow from grief and trauma and restore healthy self-esteem and a sense of identity.

Dr. Markin is also an Associate Professor in Counseling at Villanova University with an active program of research on the therapist-client relationship in psychotherapy for pregnancy loss. She serves as an associate editor of the APA journal Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, Practice, and Training and is President of the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy.

Dr. Markin is frequently interviewed in the media on topics related to pregnancy loss and infertility. She presents nationally and internationally on how psychotherapy can help individuals heal from reproductive trauma and pregnancy loss. Her work has been featured in outlets including The APA Monitor, The Today Show, and The New York Times. Dr. Markin offers individual and couples psychotherapy, professional consultation, supervision, and training seminars for mental health professionals.
